2023 Sunshine State Book Festival

Award-winning author of Something We Never Imagined, Douglas J Wemple, will be signing copies of his book during the 2023 Sunshine State Book Festival. The Festival will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Florida.

A book festival is a celebration of learning and literacy that should be fun as well as educational, bringing together people of all ages who share a love of reading and who will leave the event inspired by their experiences.

Florida has an impressive literary history dating back to William Bartram nearly 250 years ago. Today, Gainesville is a leading center of literary culture and home to hundreds of writers, novelists, playwrights, and poets, many of whom you can meet at the Sunshine State Book Festival on Saturday, January 28, 2023, and at the author reception the night before.

Last year over one-third of our festival participants were prize-winning authors.

About the Festival Producer

The Sunshine State Book Festival is presented by Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of more than 170 local writers.

The Writers Alliance of Gainesville is a thriving group of individual authors who write in many diverse genres and subject areas. As a community, we are building relationships with each other to help us foster our love for literature and creative expression.

The Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) promotes, encourages and supports aspiring and experienced regional writers. This goal is accomplished via WAG monthly meetings, public readings, ongoing small critique groups, a marketing coalition, a literary review, writing contest, and collaborations with schools and civic organizations to foster creative expression through the written word.
